George  in Cat
Jones Tower, 10 A.M.

Just as I start wondering when she’ll call, there’s a knock on my door. Kate. “Good morning, mystery sleeper!”

That’s a fun title! “Good morning to you too. Come in and I’ll put water on.”

Once we’re set on the sleeper, with coffee and tea, she asks, “So, how was sleepy-time?”

I’ve been sitting on this since I got up. “Cat can take me through the barrier!”

“Wait. Last I heard, this barrier was impenetrable?”

“Right, sorry. Cat’s been able to get through it the last couple of days and last night, we tried an experiment and she could cross to my side and take me back to hers.”

“Oh, neat. So there is some change in there. The plot is thickening, or some such thing. Only… You’re stuck unless you’re helped?”

“Yeah. For now. I hope.”

She looks at me. “Sounds like something’s up with that?”

“Yeah, but—”

“It’s embarrassing?”

I nod.

She leans in close and whispers, “Are you going to tell me or am I going to try and make wild and wicked guesses?”

I—

She smiles, “A laugh and a blush!”

“Flattery will get— you right there. Cat didn’t like the wet dreams and played with himself and then he could pass through. He said something about if we’re stuck like this, we needed to take ownership of our bodies. I didn’t like that word and when I…”

“You tried and it went nowhere, right?”

“Hm-hm”

“You weren’t using your biggest sex organ.” She taps me on the head. “That’s no good.”

“I noticed.”

She giggles. “The mood will find you. Trust me.”

“That’s not what I meant!”

Her hand touches my cheek. “You look really cute when you blush like that. You’ll find a way through that barrier or maybe some other cool thing. I’m sure.”

It feels so warm. I put my hand on hers. She smiles and teases my other cheek with her other hand. I hold that one too. She kisses my nose. Her eyes twinkle as she asks, “How are you going to stop that?” and she kisses my nose again. I just smile at her and as she moves to kiss my nose again, turn my face up and catch her mouth with mine.

Her lips play with mine for a bit, then I feel her tongue gently teasing across my lips. I catch it. She wiggles a little and I touch her tongue with mine.

When we break the kiss she says, with her eyes still closed, “That works.”

She’s still holding my face and I’m holding her hands there. “What?”

She opens her eyes. “It worked. You stopped me.” She briefly touches her nose to mine. “Best way I’ve been stopped in a long time.”

“Somebody had to do it.”

“And you volunteered.” She smiles and her thumbs caress the skin over my cheekbones. “Can I have my hands back?”

“Not while you’re doing that.”

“Oops. Sorry.” She stops and sticks out her tongue.

I giggle and release her hands. As she slowly slides hers off my cheeks, I move my right hand to her cheek and the happy smile that’s there, I’m making her happy, I’m—

“Cat? What’s wrong?”

“It’s not fair to you.”

She moves closer and hugs me. “I knew what I was getting into. Don’t worry.”

“But—”

She moves back a little so we can see each other’s faces again. “But I can wait. For a while.” There’s a sparkle in her eyes. It’s the same phrase she used with the questions and that became…this.

“Oh my. Is that blush for me?” She’s blushing a bit herself.

I want to kiss her again. For hours. But I shouldn’t. It’s not fair to her. “So why are you so sure?”

She holds her head at a slight angle and looks at me for a second, then nods and releases me. “So sure of what?”

“That I’ll find my way through the barrier or find some other thing.”

“It works too well. Look at how big the stone is and how small the ripples on the pond are. Whoever did this is just amazingly good. So, you’ll find something, somehow.”

It's interesting how we can change the gender pronouns associated with proper names given enough time and thought.

" “It works too well. Look at how big the stone is and how small the ripples on the pond are. Whoever did this is just amazingly good. So, you’ll find something, somehow.” "

Ah, but exactly how big is the stone? Is it big because it's truly big or is it big because the ones measuring it are smaller than they think? Is it a boulder before humans or a pebble before ants?

It's a nice scene. I really like it. :)
